[January - May] Crypto Saga and Illiquid Assets

If life was like a spinning wheel, 2022 was my breaking down point when I lost much amount of money in crypto and too much investing in illiquid assets like crypto rig farm and solar PV. That investment was good until ETH 2.0, The Merge, was coming. My crytpo farm shut down and my solar PV producing 40 kWh per day wasteful whereas it was expected gives me 15% annual return from electricity cost savings.

Fortunately, with my decision withdrawn my money from crypto since early January 2022 was right, i was saved from LUNA and FTX Saga until Q3 2022. I saved enough capital that might be lose.

[June - Aug ] Unfaithful

2022 was hard for me compared the previous year where I could make money by sleeping, hitting buy button of any speculative assets in 2021. In that year, I had to think how to get enough money to afford my basic needs since I don't have a regular job. I'am a self employed, not entrepreneur, yet. I asked to myself, do I need a regular job so I can rid off these overthinking where my friends getting regular salary in monthly basis, or I just need to do more hustling by hard selling of my stuffs. I didn't have any faith until I applied several jobs, referred by my high profile friend and I got interview at Sumitomo and Toshiba Indonesia.

The results was expected, they didn't have enough reason to accept me as employee since I don't have any regular job experiences except my own company, PT Resikel Global Techindo. Until at August 2022, i was offered as COO of carbonshare.id where the main founder trusting me with my blockchain experiences, which like a part time and I still can focus for my own company. The salary was enough to fulfill my monthly basis that make me no more stressful for living ahead.

[September] Most Desperate Month: Visa Rejection and Lawsuit Loss

September was a month that I will remember. I should had having trip to Norway that I paid since Feb 2022, it was 55 million overpriced trips that held by a senior photographer. My Norway visa was rejected due to my stupidity. One of document that need to be submitted to apply visa is sponsor letter.

I was twice went to Schengen area. First in 2018 when attended IEA (International Energy Agency) at Paris with invitation with MEMR ministry when I won national blogger competition in 2017. Second in June 2019 when I presented PT Resikel in waste management seminar held by Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. All these two visa both France and Germany was I managed and applied by myself at VFS Indonesia.

But for Norway, it was a tourist visa and I thought sponsor letter was an invitation where in fact it just a letter that stated we will come back to Indonesia. It could be student letter or just formal letter from company we working at.

September also crucial moment for me when I did a lawsuit class action into my friend company which did a fraud to me in 2019, losing me more than 15,000 USD. That was a trial for them to make they forced paying me under the law that already taken place since September 2021. It just one of my effort to get a justice with court trial where the other is a criminal report that I made in 2020. Currently they getting criminal charges and ready to go to jail.

[Oct - Dec] Motivation Kicks In

Since i working at carbonshare.id, I learn a lot of carbon markets and nature-based solution. Made me had enough time or it might be forced for my KPI. I was in charge to escort 3rd party developers to make API for B2B customers. Everyday i work on my computer, reading many articles and news from mainstream media and twitter as well. I started to revamp my business by making a company profile that make me easier to introduce with new people I met. Around October 2022 I found a website called webflow, a no code website builder. I registered my company domain and make resikel.webflow.io

Not long after I learn about webflow, I found other tools called Framer. It more convenient than i thought so I tried to revamp my personal website which still use blogger lucacadalora.id into lucacadalora.com which I use to write the article currently.

Just Go Ahead until Opportunity Comes

December 2022 which the time of my most motivated month. I pushed myself to write article regularly by the help of Chat GPT-3. If you open my homepage, you will see like an original work but it does not. It was articles that revamped from podcast and other articles with the help of Chat GPT-3. It was only 6 articles until i met the opportunity: selling flight tickets.

It was a glitch from desperate country which want to fight against inflation faster by devaluating their own currency to get the dollar so it could reach soft landing faster. They sell cheap currency call blue dollar. Learn more in this article: https://lucacadalora.com/blog/dólar-blue

Two days of hustling at that time i gathered $1.5k in profits while helping 40 people to get 15% discounted price comparing to mainstream OTA. But after 4 days, the opportunity was gone, the website blocked the currency so I stop selling flight tickets.

But with my faith, just go ahead until opportunity comes, I finally found a legitimate company that could charging me in that currency.

2023 Resolution

With my stacked spirit of not to surrender with the condition, i talked to myself, what need I do in the next year, 2023. What resolutions that can make me more productive, wealthier and more happy until I found a five core elements of happiness from Tal Ben-Shahar book: Happier, No Matter What. I will talk about it in next blog post
